Cool New Ab Exercise (and The Brady Challenge!)
Pin ItThe NFL’s Hardest Working Quarterback, Brady Quinn was featured in this month’s Muscle & Fitness using the Valslide.. he happens to be doing one of my new favorite ab exercises: The One-sided Valslide Pike (or V-UP!) Check it out!

Here’s how you do it:
1. Get in pushup/plank position with your shoulders directly over your elbows over your wrists.
2. Place on foot on the Valslide and hold the other foot just a few inches above the ground
3. Brace your upper back by squeezing your shoulders back together, draw your belly button up in towards your spine.
4. Now use your abdominal muscles (not your hips) to slide the foot on the Valslide in towards your hand. Contract your abdominal muscles as hard as possible throughout the movement and keep the elevated foot in the air the entire time.
Do 6-15 repetitions and repeat on the other side.

How many 1-Sided V-ups (Pikes) can you do?
Try it and post your results below in the comments section!
Even better, get a video of you doing them and send me the link to valerie@valeriewaters.com! The person who does the most wins an Amazon.com gift card! (you must post a VIDEO to win! If you need help with this, my friend Ryan will help you.. just send me an email: valerie@valeriewaters.com)

Great challenge and I’ve got a few questions:
1. What’s the end date?
2. Can we enter several times to beat the high score?
3. Do we count the max reps for both right and left legs and total it up, or is this just for one side only (it makes a difference!).
Thanks!
