Momentum. Motivation. More Results!

My friend & trainer, Anthony Slater stopped by my house the other day and we shot this quick video for you…
We discuss the idea of reflection and celebration… We need to reflect and celebrate our successes more often. In fitness and life in general… this leads to momentum, motivation and ultimately, more results.
After you watch it, think about some of the things you’ve done in the past few weeks… or even couple months that you’re really happy with and leave one or two in the comments below (in the Facebook section or the regular comment section)

This is interesting, post more often!

Great to read the comments of so many people trying little strategies to move toward their goals. Changes in lifestyle come with friction so I’m excited to see people sharing their unique successes over the past few weeks. Celebrating progress within a supportive community like this one will not only helps people continue moving the right direction but will add to your building momentum. I’m excited to spend time with everybody on September 25th. Keep up the great work everybody! I’m feeling inspired right now…

I’ve just come back from my holiday and I was a stone lighter than I was last year. During the holiday my partner celebrated his birthday and I wore a size 8 (UK) dress and never felt better. Ever since following Valeries work outs and healthy eating I feel better and enjoy fitness as part of my day.
Not eatting late anymore.
I had a baby within the last year and I set the goal to run a half marathon. I hadn’t done any serious running since before baby and wasn’t even sure if i could finish! But i set the goal and just ran the race a few weeks ago (with WAY better results then i had expected!) I’m not quite at my pre-baby body though and would love the ValSlide DVD’s to help me get there!
Am 71 yrs. old. Just recently ordered Valslide, but I am well pleased so far. Have worked out most of my life, but find that Valslide is working my muscles in a unique way—because I am actually getting sore muscles!
I have been celebrating every day since the birth of my gorgeous baby boy, Benjamin (he was a long time coming!). I had an emergency C-section and I am proud to say that I have managed pretty much a daily walk with him since he was very little (he’s now 4 months). We are lucky to live 1 mile from the sea and I think the fresh air is great for both of us! I didn’t really put anything but baby weight on during my pregnancy and I exercised throughout, so my aim now is to try and stay fit and healthy. It would be nice to get back to how fit I was before I got pregnant but I am in no rush as I am still breastfeeding and enjoying my time with Benjamin.
I have been writing down what I have been eating so I’m aware as to how much I’m putting in my body. At work I tend to grab candy and cookies and crap off everyone’s desks! But one of the most helpful things I have been doing is I block off time in my calendar at work to work out. So everyday at 1115 I get a reminder to go to the gym. I’m lucky enough to have a gym at work and I use my lunch hour to do cardio or a AHB workout if I cant make it to the gym after work to do my traning. But I also work around my gym schedule after work and treat it as an appointment, so I make sure I dont miss it. It all seems to be working as I have lost 3 lbs in one week since I made those changes!
Despite my limited sleep, I am making sure I am eating clean, and not eating during the middle of the night (the baby has me up every 2 hrs all day/night). I have been consistent with 4-5 days per week of exercise these past 6 weeks, even if I have to settle for a 1k walk. I am celebrating being back into the single digit clothing sizes again. I am celebrating myself every time I make time for myself to exercise.
In the last 2 weeks, I have begun to be more conscious of the steps I am taking toward weight loss and overall fitness and have begun to incorporate strength training and more abdominal exercises into my daily rutine. I have lost 63 pounds and am confident I can shed the next 22 pounds and reach my goal by remaining consistent. Thanks Val for sharing your tips with me.
I am celebrating my consistency with working out and doing so the proper way, thanks to Valerie, for two years now!! That’s HUGE for me and I’m very proud of myself!
My husband is HUGE on celebrating ALL accomplishments and he really helps me to acknowledge the changes he sees in me.
Since April I’ve lost 20 pounds, consistently workout (love my AHB DVD’s), have eliminated all nasty processed foods from our diets as well as HFCS and eat a more balanced, natural diet.
I’m seriously celebrating with mhy new figure when I go to LA for the Summit
I’m fifty and have been told I have the body of a thirty year but I am always looking for ways to improve and maintain.
I’m an actor and dancer and set a fitness goal to be at peak physical performance in time for a big audition. Setting this goal really helped guide my choices, from motivating me to exercise daily to inspiring me to try new things like boxing so I could look tougher during the stage combat portion of the audition. It also helped me to make smart choices about my diet, particularly in choosing to not attempt any crazy crash diets which might only result in my feeling weak and unable to perform at my best. The work was tough, but it paid off and I got cast!
I’m celebrating these days by following a new circuits training called: Huge in a Hurry, designed by Chad Waterbury; it is a 3 days per week, 5 meals per days, and I’m so happy to change to eating style!! currently I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits which I never did! I can feel the changes in my body
but still my ABS need more development
I ride my bike to work every day and have done yoga at least once a week for stress relief, focus and concentration the past two weeks. I have also lost 3 pounds in the last two weeks, and can already feel the difference in my clothes! I am also keeping track of what I eat so I can lose 4 more pounds in the next four weeks to reach my goal.
( that was supposed to be a happy face at the end, not a question mark!)
I have practised will power, which is something I didn’t have much discipline in. My results have surprised and impressed me immensely.
It started with the idea of deciding I would not drink alcohol for 2 months, mostly just to see if I could follow through. I have never been a huge drinker, but in recent years a glass or a few of wine almost every night have become as regular as brushing my teeth.
The first 2 weeks were quite excruciating (especially since my boyfriend returns home from work with a bottle or two of wine most evenings!), but I kept to my plan. Val, “You’re one workout away from a good mood” and “There’s no such thing as maintenance” have been HUGE inspirations to keep going – thank you, they are constantly in my head and have spurred me on when I wanted to quit. I am currently in week 7, with only 5 days to go and am delighted and motivated by my results.
The idea of exercising willpower has ignited in me a profound desire and increased momentum to improve every aspect of my life. (I’ll just stick to the health & fitness part, though). At the same time as deciding to go dry, I have kept a little food and exercise log. Although I had been doing this for several months already, I found that I was never really able to stick to it, and weekends of binge drinking with friends would really throw me off. I’d lose motivation, through tiredness and also guilt and have to start all over again, after skipping days of not writing things down and not exercising. It was like I was living my very own ‘Groundhog Day’ – in a constant state of feeling like I was going through New Year’s resolutions every few weeks, to get fit and eat healthy once and for good.
My results? I’ve not had a single drop of alcohol and it’s made me remember that it is possible to relax and to have fun without it – even on nights out when everyone around me is drinking. I’ve felt more fantastic than I have in years, and have been able to stick to my exercise and eating plan. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight and centimetres – people have complimented me and my clothes are fitting once more, which makes me feel pretty again – yay! I can see muscles developing, which inspires me more (I look forward to looking hotter than ever in a bikini and in I everything I wear!) and my energy and motivation are just getting stronger and stronger. It’s like a spinning wheel that is in a constant and increased state of motion.
Now I’m not in any way advocating a holier-than-thou attitude to life or one without alcohol. As the end of week 8 approaches, I know I will celebrate my success with a glass of wine. Or two. But it has instilled in me a belief in myself and an entirely new approach to making decisions that will benefit – not hinder me, and ultimately help me to have a happier and more fulfilling life. I know that I am not the only one who has struggled with will power and encourage all of you to give it a go and surprise yourself with what you can achieve if you really want it and put your mind to it. Change is never easy, no matter what it’s in. Just get through the first two weeks, and the momentum and results will follow. ?
I’m celebrating staying on track with my goals during a holiday- something I’ve always struggled with!
Val, your video on writing intentions was extremely powerful for me; actually sitting down and creating my “goals on steroids” created a roadmap for my RCR challenge—and guided me towards a successful first week! Not only do I have tangible goals and behaviors to strive for, the intentions are a great mechanism to use in “reflecting along the way.” My intentions serve as a compass and at the end of each day, I can identify where I’ve been successful and recognize what areas need additional attention.
Those initial photos and measurements were very difficult to record, but knowing that I have a game-plan allows me to actually look forward to the coming weeks of the challenge. Thank you (and your fellow experts) for the supplemental information, wisdom, and optimism!
I’m celebrating that for the first time in 10 years I am finally being consistent with eating right and keeping an exercise schedule! Of course I have a great motivator…my wedding is in 5 months! I’ve been on track for the past 3 weeks and I stepped on the scale today to find that I’ve lost 3lbs!!! I know that’s not a lot, I don’t have too much to lose, just a bit over those last stubborn 5-8lbs, so 3lbs is a big deal to me. Only 8lbs to go to hit my goal wedding weight…I’m well on my way!
I am grateful for a healthy body…after suffering a lumbar sprain from over doing it, I am proud to say that I am able to listen to my body. I love to run and do yoga(teach it too:) ) and I appreciate the balance physical activity brings to my mind and body. I am happy to say that I work my abs daily since my low back injury and I never not do something while engaging my abs, even running is a great ab workout…I hated being unable to do anything and I am proud to say that I am now a good listener…the whole body works together…Thanks for letting me share!
Having PCOS sometimes it is hard to stay motivated and not many milestone moments, so I am celebrating perseverance. When ever it gets to be to much I take a break then pull up my big girl panties, re-evaluate and try again, which is wehat I am doing now. I am eager to do things Val way
Sophia
I am proud that I was strong enough (from working out regularly this past year) to kayak 6 miles in Maine going against the wind the majority of the time, which is something I have always wanted to do but in the past didn’t feel strong enough to
I went from not being able to exercise at all to building up my swims to almost a 5K. Still working on getting to the 5K, but am so proud of getting in more 3500m, so far. I feel like a stud when I hop out of the pool after a workout!
I try to do some exercise everyday. It may be short or longer if I speed walk but I do something. This encourages me to keep my record up of doing something so exercise breeds more exercise. An example of what has helped my speed walking (which is the type of exercise you need in an emergency) is the mountain climber Valslide exercise. You can go all out for 15-40 seconds which gets your cardiovascular ready.
I am celebrating the fact that I am getting up super early 6 days a week and working out. I love my Action Hero Babe workout days. They are tough, but so fun and I always look forward to working out with Val. I am also very proud that I am cooking a new healthy recipe every week and just purchased the Movie Star fitness video…sooo can’t wait!
I got addicted to Valslides and gave up wine (excluding champagne – that was the strategy and it has worked a treat!)…
I’m celebrating the fact that I just completed week 3 of Chad Waterbury’s Body of F.I.R.E…..and can still walk! It is one of the most intense workouts I’ve ever done. There were a few times I laid in bed and tried to talk myself out of doing the workout, but I didn’t. I followed my schedule and I did them. I’m getting stronger every day!
After years of inactivity I bought a road bike and have been out for a bike ride at least once a week since I got it. I’ve also started taking long walks again. Still have a long way to go, but this is more than I’ve done in ages. I’m feeling better for it.
Gr8 idea!!! I think to be aware of core muscle and learning to improve posture and straighten around the core area all day is a must!!! Thank you, Val…I think you are a real sweet genius!
I am celebrating 96 pounds lost so far. I have about 15- 20 more to go to reach my 2nd goal. My 1st goal was to lose the 95 I had gained over the course of 10 years. I was over 250 pounds last year and I am celebreating my new body. However, this is where the battle begins again since I have never been able to get to my personal goal weight. Those Val slides might be just what I need to incorporate into my workouts. Thanks Val!! You are always an inspiration and always giving us great tips!
I am happy that I have tried quite a few new recipes this past month, like broccoli soup, eggplant and mashed sweet potato! … I love adding variety to my food, so I don’t get bored of the same old food. Mind you, some recipes are keepers, while others will never set foot in my kitchen again! haha, but it’s a learning process. Hey, I want to enjoy food & life!!
I’m also happy that the weather has been excellent this weekend. I went bike riding 3x this weekend, and had a blast each time. I also got out of my house and did some cardio outdoors this week as well. It was quite liberating, instead of staying home and doing my cardio.
I love the RCR and Valslide workouts. I now have the body that I have always wanted to have: slender, lean and toned. I get great comments from other women at the gym who say that I have the figure of a model. At an age of early 40s that is indeed a compliment. I am super proud of myself! I exercise 6 times a week: I alternate between a short interval cardio session plus abs workout and an RCR workout so that I do 3 cardio+abs sessions (30-45 min max) and 3 RCR/Valslide workouts (45 min max) per week. And the greatest part of it all is that I love doing it all. I do them in the morning and feel super good all day! Thanks so much for your inspiration Val! You rock!
P.S. If I win the DVD, I just recently moved, so please email me in case you do not have my new address. Thanks! ;o)
Val!! I reflect every day on my success and the success of others each time I log into your forum… So I’m celebrating you my friend! xoxo
The motivation I get from your links is absolutely essential when I need that boost to get me going. I think of your sound advise then get myself to the gym, and always, always feel better for it. And it shows too! Getting that ‘rush’ is what I’m adding to my schedule! Thanks!
I have been taking my bike instead of my car everywhere within a 3 mile range of my house for the last few months, even in the rain and even the short rides are starting to show in my body
Every Sunday for the past several months i planned my workouts for the upcoming week and have been able to stick to it and workout 6-7days a week. This has also allowed me to incorporate different classes and DVD;s in my routines and I just live the variety. Planning really works and it does not take any time to do.
Thanks for giving us the opportunnity to win one of your dvd’s. I would definitely add this to my schedule.
Im celebrating being consistent with my nutrition and exercise plans – and seeing the benefits! The little things all add up so for those who are finding it tough – take baby steps and keep taking them and results will come!
Thank you Val and Anthony for a great clip
I started doing a workout which I saw in the magazine. It has been a few weeks and I find myself able to walk up the escalator as if they were regular stairs. I don’t seem out-of-breath anymore.
I still haven’t seen any loss of inches around my waist (or any other part of the body) yet, but I hope that if I win your latest DVD, I will see the results I desire.
I can’t wait to have a movie star’s body!
Thank you, Val!
I’m celebrating being binge free for over four weeks! Woop woop!
Great video
I’m celebrating and taking my pat on the back for decreasing the calories in my planned snacks. I work out 6 days/week religiously and had convinced myself that I needed more food to maintain energy during the day. I took the step to reduce my snacks calorically and who knew I still maintained my energy! It’s helped me through a plateau and I am so glad for that! Love the Valslide workouts too and the new video, Val, is such a great tribute to how great you and the Valslide are!
I have consistently kept up swimming 2 days a week at 7.00am (before breakfast) even during these freezing cold months of winter here in Australia.
I have also been more relaxed on myself, making me more calm & peaceful around others, and finding that sense of peace within myself.
Anthony’s segment here resonated with me so much! I love the idea of celebrting milestones, big or small and making the most effective use of our time and the plan we are on is spot on! I can’t wait to hear him speak at Summit.
Despite having a crazy schedule, I’m celebrating that I’ve planned some form of activity every day, even if it’s just a SAS-E workout before bed.
Being a rolemodel for him is definitely worth reflecting on and harnessing to keep continuing on my journey.
I am celebrating the motivating women that inspire me every day in the Red Carpet Forum, that motivate me.
I’m celebrating that I stepped on the scales this morning and shocked myself with my progress.
I’m celebrating how exercise gives balance to my day and my life and grounds me to focus on what is truly important.
I’m celebrating that my 3 yo wants to workout along side me and when asked why he said it was to give him energy for his day
See you in LA in a few weeks Val
i’m really happy that i got my workouts in daily. being active daily kept me happy emotionally and physically!
